What’s the best time to buy home security?

At Horizon Alarms, we like to take time every week to answer questions commonly asked by consumers interested in purchasing an alarm system. This week, we’ll be focusing on the best time for you to purchase a security system.

The easiest way to answer the question, “what’s the best time to buy home security?” is simply by saying “anytime.” Though, that would be doing our readers a bit of a disservice. There are certain moments that are better than others when taking the leap into home security and we fully believe that there isn’t just one correct answer to that question. With alarm systems becoming more and more affordable every day, here are some of the best times for you to spend some extra cash to protect your home and the people you love inside of it.

  • 1. You Just Bought a House. Burglars love people who are new to their neighborhoods. It’s a prime time to strike. How are any of your neighbors supposed to know the people going in and out of your home if they don’t really know you? If these thieves are assuming that a new family in a home will not have had a chance to install a security system yet, prove them wrong.
  • 2. You’re Going on Vacation. Why waste your vacation wondering if someone got into your house? Most burglaries take place when no one is home and vacation means long stretches of time when no one is checking in. The easy solution: don’t leave your house unguarded. With an alarm system in place, you don’t have to worry as much about your cars being in the driveway to keep the appearance of someone at home or limiting what you post on social media.
  • 3. You’re Getting Married. Twice the people means twice the stuff. Many people are cautious about posting on social media about vacations, but update plenty about their impending nuptials. What they forget, though, is that weddings typically mean honeymoons and what burglar wouldn’t want some fancy bridal shower gifts or envelopes full of cash? A security system is a good way to ensure that the honeymoon doesn’t end quicker than you want it to.
  • 4. You’re Having A Baby. You would do absolutely anything to protect your child, and this should make the list. If you get a security system that expands and allows you to customize, you can change your configuration as your family grows. As your baby grows into a toddler (who is essentially a tornado in an adorable costume), you can add sensors to windows, doors, and even to cabinets containing hazardous substances. You can also add smoke and carbon monoxide sensors to make sure your family is safe and alert of anything that may happen in your home.

With all of this in mind, the best time to get a home security system is before you need it. If you need assistance in purchasing, installing, inspecting, or perfecting the security needs for your home or office, call the Horizon Alarms team at 800-467-1832 or send us a message and we’ll reach out to discuss all of your alarm needs.
